The 3 best credit cards to have are the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card, the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, and the Wells Fargo Reflect® Card. Having these cards in your wallet gives you access to great cash back rewards, a big initial bonus, travel rewards and 0% financing.
Top 3 Credit Cards of April 2024
- Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card: Best for Cash Back
- Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card: Best Initial Bonus
- Wells Fargo Reflect® Card: Best for 0% APR
Of these three cards, the best all-around option is the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card. It has a $0 annual fee and offers 2% cash rewards, along with an introductory APR of 0% for 15 months from account opening on purchases. To qualify for this card, you need at least good credit.
Of course, the top 3 credit cards in general won’t necessarily be the top 3 credit cards for everyone, especially people who have limited, bad or fair credit. You can check out WalletHub’s complete picks for the best credit cards to see the top offers for people of all credit levels.
Finally, if you decide to add a fourth card to the mix, get one that gives the best possible rewards in your biggest spending categories. For example, if you spend a lot on gas and groceries, you could get a card like the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express, which offers as much as 6% back.

if you have pretty good credit, are solely looking for the most valuable rewards, and don't need them transferred to American Airlines or Delta, there's only a couple possible ways to beat having the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Freedom Unlimited and Freedom Flex. And they're complicated.
The least complicated is Venture X and Savor One, which makes sense if you've got a lot of non category spending and a lot of Uber/Uber eats and other dining out and entertainment.
The other way is to remove one of the two Freedom cards and add in an Amex Gold, Savor Card, or US Bank Cash +.
