The Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card is a good travel rewards credit card that is worth it for people who don’t spend enough to justify paying an annual fee. Capital One VentureOne has a $0 annual fee, a $0 foreign transaction fee, and solid rewards. Those rewards include 20,000 miles as an initial bonus for spending $500 in the first 3 months, along with an ongoing earning rate of 1.25 miles / $1 on most purchases.
The VentureOne Card requires at least good credit for approval, just like its sibling, the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card. Capital One Venture (see Rates & Fees) is a mainstay among the market’s best rewards cards, but its annual fee is enough to scare some people away. That’s who the VentureOne Card is perfect for.
Below, you can find a breakdown of the key factors to consider before deciding whether or not to apply for the Capital One VentureOne Card.
Capital One VentureOne Review Highlights
Good rewards for light-spenders
The Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card gives you 20,000 bonus miles for spending $500 within 3 months of account opening. The average rewards card offers 30,381 points/miles. In addition, you’ll earn 1.25 miles / $1 spent, which is about the market average for a rewards card. You can also earn 5 miles for every dollar spent on hotel and car rentals booked through Capital One Travel. So while these rewards aren’t necessarily elite, they’re good enough to make VentureOne a worthwhile option for light-spenders.
Above-average 0% promotion
VentureOne offers an intro APR of 0% for 15 months on new purchases and balance transfers. For context, the average credit card gives 0% for 11 months on purchases and 0% for 13 months on balance transfers. So that’s pretty good. The Capital One VentureOne's regular APR is 19.99% - 29.99% (V).
Transfer fee: 3% for the first 15 months, 4% at a promo APR that Capital One may offer you at any other time
The Capital One VentureOne Credit Card currently charges a balance transfer fee of 3% for the first 15 months, 4% at a promo APR that Capital One may offer you at any other time. So if you want to reduce the cost of existing debt, it is a good idea to use a balance-transfer calculator to determine whether such a transaction will be worthwhile.
Requires good credit or better
The Capital One VentureOne Card would make more sense as a fair-credit alternative to Venture. However, it’s reserved for people with good or excellent credit. So make sure to check your credit score for free on WalletHub before applying.

I just tried to apply for this credit card (my credit score is 816), but I was denied. Although all seven of my credit card accounts are in good standing and always paid off on time when I use them, the reason for denial was that I have too many credit cards. I would appreciate some feedback on whether this is a valid reason for denial. Regardless, Capital One, by no choice of my own, will NOT be receiving any of my money. The customer service representative was sweet, but of course, had no way of helping me since she is "not a credit expert". Also, I ran my credit report immediately after I was denied and TransUnion/Experian has me at 816, while Capital One only had me at 794. Can anyone explain this?

Capital One is a B.S. garbage card issuer. I've had my card over 20 yrs. Interest rate remains high. They scam you by setting cutoff for payments @ 8:00 EST. No other card issuer screws the customer as bad as Capital None. DO NOT use these clowns. Rely on the rule, the worse a product is, the more they have to pay celebs to promote it --- FACT!!! Rate customer service a -5 on a 10 scale.

Decent card, 1.25 travel points per dollar spent and a fairly high interest rate. They are, however, very good with credit limit increases.

Applied to the VentureOne card with a 40K mile bonus after spending $1K advertised. I got accepted as I have very high credit (>770). Everything seemed normal. BUT a week after getting it, I contacted CapitalOne as I couldn't see my progress towards the 40K mile bonus on the app. They told me they didn't honor the bonus for my application - this was NEVER disclosed clearly throughout the application process. It was probably hidden in the small text in an attempt to save money for the company. Must be a tough time financially for them. Would avoid and would've never gotten the card, had it been disclosed clearly. Scam.

Decent starter card to build a credit history, but that's about the only benefit I see after using the card for 3 months. Disappointed on many aspects of the benefits of this card: 1) you won't be eligible for the bonus if you only have good credit, the bonus requires excellent credit, 2) there is a no foreign transaction fee, but there is a similar fee based on currency exchange, 3) the travel portal often shows prices way higher than the actual airline and hotel, and the 5x reward miles don't cover the difference, leaving you in the red, 4) it is impossible to get an itemized receipt booking through their travel portal because they often book through third parties (i.e., Expedia), please don't use this for business travel. Carefully consider this card, I think there are many better options available.
